The email was created by a man named Ray Tomlinson who was a computer engineer as well as the first man to ever send an email in 1971. He created a new form of communication that has been used nationwide. Before the creation of email, there wasn't any way of sending something electronically until email. Ever since 1971 email has rapidly evolved to what is one of the most used platforms in the nation.

Although email has advanced rapidly since Ray Tomlinson, some of his methods are still in place today. In the first email, Ray Tomlinson used the @ symbol which is still used today. In 1972, email users were allowed to forward messages and also reply to emails similar to what people do today. In 1981, ASCII encoding was created which is a way to represent a text or symbols on a computer.

Studies show that in 2015, there were roughly 2.6 email participants worldwide however, the majority of emails that are received are spam. This shows that even though email has made such a positive change in the world it also has its setbacks.  In fact, in December 1996 one of the world's largest spam took place up to 6 million email users received spam mail.

There have also been countless positive factors of email. Including limiting the usage of paper. Before email became popular the main source of communication was through writing letters. Once the email was created people didn't use letters as their main source of communication.

At first, when email was created it was mostly used just for universities and communication in business however, people now use it for many different things like communicating with your extended family or loved ones. An email has made communication much more convenient by allowing someone to send a message in a matter of seconds. This has made it easier for people in the workforce and people in college. Many college students rely on email. Students use this form of communication as a way to contact their professors in a quick and professional way.  Also, using email in the workforce is a key factor in communicating with different clients or colleagues.

Ultimately, Ray Tomlinson had created a great form of communication that has changed the world. Email counties to grow have a platform and still have countless users use it as their main source of communication.
